Amerikansk undersökning om bloggar och traditionell media

Lite snabblänkar så här på morgonen. Tack Wille för Reuterns-länken!

Reuters skriver i Blogs haven't displaced media, U.S. study finds:

Web logs, or blogs, may be a powerful new force in U.S. politics but they have not displaced traditional media in terms of information and influence, a study revealed on Monday.

Charting the discussion of issues during the 2004 presidential campaign, the study by the Pew Internet & American Life Project and consultants BuzzMetrics found political blogs -- online opinion and information sites -- played a similar, but not greater role, as did the mainstream media and the candidates' campaigns in creating "buzz."

Pew Internet & American Life Project skriver i Buzz, Blogs, and Beyond:

[Pew Internet & American Life Project] and BuzzMetrics examined the interplay of blogs, online citizen chatter in newsgroups, the mainstream news media and official political spin from the Democrat and Republican election camps. They also conducted a case study of the “Rathergate” scandal involving CBS News and unauthenticated memos about George W. Bush’s record in the National Guard.

BuzzMetrics pressrelease Innovative study suggests where blogs fit into national politics:

Experimental research from the Pew Internet & American Life Project and BuzzMetrics suggests that political bloggers can make an impact on politics, but they often follow the lead of politicians and journalists.

Rapporten som refereras är Michael Cornfield, Jonathan Carson, Alison Kalis, Emily Simon: Buzz, Blogs, and Beyond: The Internet and the National Discourse in the Fall of 2004 (PDF). (Har inte läst den ännu.)

Jag har inte kunnat hitta den Connecticut-studie som nämns senare i Reuters-artikeln, men den refereras (via googlesökning) bl.a. i Editor & Publishers artikeln New Survey Finds Huge Gap Between Press and Public on Many Issues . Där står en hel del om skillnaden mellan journalister och allmänheten.
