Charles Prod'homme blogs about developing Choco
One week ago, Charles Prod'homme (one of the main developers of the Choco CP system) started the blog Within a Constraint Solver. His first blog post was this:
A side note: Some days before Charles started his blog, I held a talk at CP-2013 Workshop CP Solvers: Modeling, Applications, Integration, and Standardization, and one of the things I mentioned was that it would be great if there where more CP bloggers to explain what Constraint Programming is and why we are so fascinated by it. I'm not sure is there is some cause and effect here or just a happy coincidence. :-)
If you are interested, here is my talk: CP Solvers/Learning Constraint Programming, and here's Charles' talk at the workshop: Choco3: an Open Source Java Constraint Programming Library.
With this blog I would like to share the good and bad ideas we've had (and have) while developing our constraint solver. As we almost started from scratch, there could be articles about every part of the solver. If you don't know what Constraint Programming is, wikipedia is a good start point.Welcome to the CP blog sphere, Charles!
Since 2008, I've been working on Choco, a Java library for constraint programming. Articles from this blog will mostly talk about the choices made from the version 2 to version 3, but not only.
